Not too long ago as student artists, in our artistic journey, we emulated the styles of old masters or our teachers in an attempt to learn the painting craft. But then not too long ago the internet appeared in our lives and we are able to see daily hundreds of high resolution dazzling art. Seeing so much as artist students we are at a quandary which path to take. I believe to adopt any of the many artistic styles, one needs to have a certain mindset to succeed. My advice to the beginner student is to do what comes easily and naturally that he or she would have the self-motivation and self-satisfaction to work in a style daily without duress or mental fatigue. But, that’s not to say the student shouldn’t occasionally try a style that may be seductive that to a certain extent may even be possible to incorporate in part in his or her work.
