Abstracting a Garden View No.1 Watercolor

Working in the garden digging, rototilling and garden bed preparation depleted my energy. That said, the least energy requiring activity in painting, is sketching in watercolor. And that’s what I have done here. Like most artists, I learned to paint watercolor, with emphasis on tone or value in a compositions, influenced by the California watercolor artists who were influential in promoting watercolor nationally. Over the years my interest shifted to color as the focus in my paintings, and that gave me pleasure. It suited my personality and, for me,  every sketch good or bad turned out to be a surprise, more so than the tonal acceptable type of paintings that were prevalent at the time and still are.
