I blocked in the landscape loosely with a transparent wash of Thalo blue and Alizarin crimson mixture. Actually any dark will do. In this step I gave an approximation as to where the darks and lights are.

I started adding loosely approximate local color with some opaque paint, keeping darks transparent and paying attention to color temperature.

I continued filling the canvas with opaque paint, but kept darks transparent. Again paying attention to relative values (the darks and lights),  and relative temperature ( the cools and warms) of each color family. For instance comparing green to green, red to red etc.).

Here I did some modeling and started adding some detail.

I like a painting that is not overly finished or overly modeled, so I add as little detail as possible.

At first I thought to eliminate the chainlink fence, but then I decided it would be fun to give it a try even though it might ruin what I had already accomplished. With the edge of a palette knife I put a few of the the crisscrossed lines, but not many, to give the appearance of the chainlink fence. It seemed to work just fine.
